KVELERTAK. BURGERS. THINGS.
As you may or may not know, CJLO is celebrating a birthday this year. We have officially been on the air in Montréal for 5 years, and it’s been 15 years that CJLO in its current form has existed. To celebrate, we’ll be throwing events all year, which brings me to the next item of business…
Tonight, on my show, BVST (7 to 9 ET, CJLO 1690AM in Montréal, cjlo.com worldwide), I’ll be premiering selected tracks from the brand new Kvelertak record, Meir, which will be released in about two weeks. I’ve been listening to it for a month or so now, and trust me, you will not be disappointed!
I’ll be playing the record in anticipation of the upcoming Roadrunner Records / CJLO 1690AM listening party, which will be happening March 27th at Katacombes, and which will feature the new Kvelertak album as well as Disarm the Descent, the new Killswitch Engage record. The party starts at 7pm, there will be CJLO DJs spinning metal all night, prizes & giveaways galore, and admission is free, so c’mon down! Here’s a link to the Facebook event, if you’re into that kind of thing.
Finally, if all of this got you feeling a little hungry, you need to head over to Le Gourmet Burger (1433 Bishop) and grab yourself the official CJLO burger, with melty Cheddar, spicy Jalapeños, fresh Lettuce and delicious caramelized Onions (see what we did there?). You can get it on your choice of beef, chicken, bison or veggie burger, and I highly recommend getting the combo (which includes fries and a delicious house-made ice tea or lemonade).
To summarize:
TONIGHT: brand new Kvelertak tracks on CJLO from 7 to 9pm ET.
MARCH 27TH: awesome listening party for Kvelertak / Killswitch Engage at 7pm.
RIGHT NOW UNTIL APRIL 12TH: delicious CJLO burgers!

Had to skip out of my regular Sunday breakfast for snow related reasons, but I’m consoling myself in the warmth of the indoors with this grilled Nutella sandwich.

This is what I ate for breakfast. Now it’s not even noon yet and I am starting to eat my lunch. If I keep going this way, the Schwartz’s waiter won’t be wrong, if you get my drift.
Also, these things are the weirdest, but I highly recommend them. They’re basically chips, but sweet. The first time I tried them I was grossed out, but it didn’t keep me from finishing the bag… and then, over time, a dozen more.
These also sparked my love affair with Nong Shim products, which have not disappointed me yet.

I came home with a couple of packages of this Ikea weird discounted elderflower drink last night, after having a cupcake with elderflower icing after my meatball special, and now my mind is swimming with questions, like:
Why have I not been drinking this always? Also, what is it? How does this manage to taste like butter and honey and ice tea all at the same time? What alcohol would this mix with best? Also, what’s an elderflower?

Ham and fake mashed (which I strongly prefer to the real thing), along with Cracker Barrel corn bread, fried okra and turnip greens. I think this would be my last meal request.

Make Your Own Chick-Fil-A Sandwich. Insanely fast rap!

Seriously, Mac Lethal’s 11:11 is still one of my favorite records. Also, he’s an atheist, has progressive political views and knows how to cook. Dude is a hero.

Why does your McDonald’s burger look different in the store than in the advertising? Because the person at the McDonald’s is making minimum wage, and all these folks are making that person’s weekly salary in a day… that’s why.

Also, real food is not generally used in advertising, and it isn’t clearly implied that they actually do use real burgers exclusively in their advertising (other than for this example). Most food that you see in advertising is a combination of edible and inedible ingredients.

So apparently lingonberries are the new anti-oxidant superfood.
What this means to me? An additional reason to enjoy the Ikea meatball special… perhaps even this Friday night?
